Ricardo Barretto is a screenwriter, producer, actor, and director. After being chosen out of an intensive drama arts program in his hometown as a recipient of a full scholarship to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in London, he completed his education at the Stella Adler Conservatory in Los Angeles, and Shakespeare & Company in Massachusetts, the best all-American Shakespeare Company.
His scientific journey led to studies in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, consciousness, creativity, and drama at the University of California, Irvine, where he graduated with honors. He continued his postgraduate work at the Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, following his longtime passion for Depth Psychology and Mythology.
He worked and met with recognized world leaders and startups in areas of future technology as an international agent, mainly in Longevity and Future Medicine/Public Health, and received an academic Global Innovators Award. His current areas of research include dark matter, Jungian film theory, consciousness and the nature of reality, longevity, and artificial intelligence risk assessment, in terms of meaning and significance to what we define as human.
As a screenwriter, he helped several producers and directors, including the winner of Best Film in Brazil in 2012, and had heads of network drama and film departments, the director of a major film festival, and heads of creative departments, as students. He just completed a Sundance SciFi program and has several projects in development, mostly dealing with aspects of technological enchantment.
